Get
Involved

Getting involved really is the best way to get to know people and feel part of the community.

There's lots of teams you can join and we want them to be a place where you have fun and thrive. As well as giving your time and skills, we think serving on a team should be something you enjoy.

As a spiritual body, we need lots of people doing lots of things to make it all work together. No matter your role, you're incredibly important to helping us grow and thrive as a church.

Steps

Our rotas run on a termly and monthly basis, we have a sign up Sunday at the end of each term and month, ready for the next. If you’d like to join one of the rotas in between these, please speak to one of the team.

  • Each Sunday we need to turn our venues into spaces for our gatherings. Whether it’s setting out tables, putting up banners or wiring the tech for the band the setup and pack down team is essential.

  • We love eating together and Sunday morning is no different. Each week an individual or group brings brunch for everyone to enjoy. If you enjoy baking this is a great way to get involved.

Take a look at all of the teams below.

  • We wouldn’t be able to do what we do without the financial support of people within our community.

Oversight team

Our oversight team has responsibility for the overall governance of the Hub whether that be legal, finance or safeguarding. We’ve got an amazing bunch of Trustees from varying backgrounds who help steer us to live out our vision of being a safe place for anyone to explore faith.

  • The trustees are the legal overseers of the church. They are ultimately the boss and we always do what they tell us! They make sure we're following all the rules and keeping out of trouble. They are formed from both people inside the hub and those outside too.

  • The X-Leadership team focus on the vision and direction of the church. They are central to the culture of who we are and where God is calling us as a church. This team is made up of people from within the hub.

Sundays

In order to gather each week we need lots of help and our Sunday teams make sure everything goes smoothly. If you’ve got a passion for working with young people our Kids and Youth teams are a great way of getting involved on a Sunday.
We also provide full training for our Tech team to make things look and sound good.

  • The Worship team runs all of our times of sung worship whether that is on a Sunday, at a special service or another gathering we have. Our worship team play a variety of instruments and all have differing experiences.

  • The Tech team works alongside our Worship team to make sure it sounds beautiful and that we can see what we need to on the screen.

  • The Kids team coordinates all of our work with the smallest members of the hub. This is mainly on a Sunday but also covers any of the kids socials or events that happen during the week.

  • The Youth team work alongside our young people, mostly during our services on a Sunday but also with our Youth lunches and helping with the Hitchin Youth Hangout, our Friday night collaboration with ChristChurch.

Explore faith

Enabling people to explore faith is why we exist. Our Alpha team preps and runs Alpha sessions and our Bridge the Gap Football team help make our weekly football sessions happen.

  • Alpha is a course that runs for roughly 10 weeks exploring some of the big questions about life, faith and God. It is a great way to discover more about Christianity and ask the difficult questions in a safe place. The Alpha teams coordinates these courses.

  • Bridge The Gap is our weekly football project aimed at creating a community for men to connect with each other, have fun and play football. The BTG team runs the sessions and helps to build the community during the week.

Grow as family

Church is not just on a Sunday. Our Socials team organises everything from BBQs to bowling. Throughout the week we gather in smaller groups for our Mini Hubs and the team collate ideas and support Mini Hub leaders in running their groups each term.

  • Whilst a lot of what we do is very sociable, we organise specific socials every so often where people from across the church can come together and have fun. They're also a great way of inviting friends. The socials team help plan these and come up with wonderful ideas!

  • Mini Hubs are our small groups that happen during the week, focused on an activity, a course or developing faith. These change every term so our Mini Hubs team are there to help facilitate this and organise the groups. They are also there for when people need some help or support.

Follow Jesus

Our Discipleship an Prayer teams help us get closer to Jesus by facilitating our amazing Journey groups and monthly prayer nights.

  • Following Jesus is something that we have to intentionally try to do in every part of our life. But sometimes we need some help with this. The Discipleship team coordinate our Journey groups and our families discipleship tools.

  • Simply put, prayer is about talking to God and listening to what he might have to say. There's different ways of praying and sometimes that looks like praying for each other and other times about what is happening in our world. The Prayer team help to facilitate this within the church.
